Before you can put your first product up for sale, you have to get it ?download ready.? But that does not have to be too complicated nor time-consuming, as long as you do not get bogged down by perfectionism. Chances are more than likely that you already have at least one - if not a few - products that are almost ready to publish. If you don't, look through the files on your hard drive and find something you can quickly and easily put together right now. Once you have one product made, and ready for buyers to download, you will have "broken the ice" and it will become much easier to continue on making additional products and getting those listed for sale as well.
Make it Easy on Yourself
?Start with something easy! Think about what's almost ready? Or that you find simple to create? What excites you the most? It does not have to be big and elaborate, keep it simple to get yourself started. There are a few new things to learn when it comes to actually getting that first product up for sale. You want to spend your time and energy on learning these new tasks and getting them done, not on researching and creating something new from scratch.
For example, you could turn ten to twenty of the most helpful PLR articles - or your own blog posts - on a topic into an ebook. Or you could just start with an already done-for-you ebook or report with commercial use rights that you just need to edit the layout and tweak the words just a bit to work for your market and target audience. And if writing is not your thing, then create some printable templates or social media graphics that would be useful to your niche community and bundle those together.
Over the course of the next five days, we'll get the product up and selling. For today, step #1 is you're going to pick a product and get it polished and ready to be downloaded. Of course the first part of this process is to pick the product you want to get up and selling first, but just don?t get stuck in that place of perfection.
This is also why I suggest that you stick with a downloadable PDF for this first product. It's one of the easiest products to put together and get ready for your buyers. Look for something you can finish up quickly and keep it short. You want to be able to move on to the next set of tasks within a day or two. Start with something that's almost done, that you can get it "download ready" by the end of the day.
Make it Easy to Sell
I have news for you. Tomorrow we start to work on copywriting, which in essence means getting ready to sell the info product. To make it easy on yourself and increase your chances of success, choose a product that you know your audience wants. Think about the kinds of questions you receive frequently, or the kinds of questions you yourself used to have when first learning about this niche topic. Consider anything they (or you) have asked for specifically. Chances are, this is something you're already working on. Pick up that project again and get ready to finish it.
Make it Easy to Come Out with Product Number 2
Last but not least, it can be helpful to choose something that makes it easy to come up with the next paid product. While this can seem like the least of your considerations right now, it really can help you get in the habit of publishing info products regularly. What will your customers need after they buy this first product?
Got that product picked out? Great. Take a close look at it and make sure it's ready for publication. Give it a final edit, and then ask a friend to proofread it.
Once you're happy with the final text document, convert it into a pdf file. You now have something that's ready to sell and deliver to your customers. Congratulate yourself on a job well done and get ready for tomorrow, when we do some of the leg work that will make writing the sales page quick and easy. For the purpose of this particular series of blog posts, I'm going to assume that you're creating an short ebook or report that can be downloaded as a PDF.
